Ali lahko zmanjšamo gorljivost in vnetljivost lesa na okolju prijazni način?

Na Zavodu za gradbeništvo Slovenije v okviru projekta WOOLF razvijamo lesno kompozitni material z izboljšanimi požarnimi lastnostmi. Gre za nov postopek mineralizacije lesa, kjer vgrajujemo različne karbonate v lesno strukturo. Novo razviti mineralizirani les ima znatno izboljšane požarne lastnosti –med požarom se zakasni čas vžiga, zmanjša se stopnja sproščanja toplote in zniža se stopnja rasti požara. Nov postopek prestavlja »zeleno« alternativo konvencionalnim zaviralcem gorenja.

Can we reduce the flammability and combustibility of wood in an environmentally friendly way?

At the Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute, as part of the WOOLF project, we are developing a wood composite material with improved fire properties. It uses a new process of wood mineralization, in which various carbonates are incorporated into the structure of the wood. The newly developed mineralized wood has significantly improved fire properties - during a fire, the ignition time is delayed, and the rates of heat release and fire growth are reduced. This new process represents a "green" alternative to conventional flame retardants.
