    		 Boosting waste recycling into valuable products by setting the environment for a circular economy in Slovenia

    Description The LIFE IP RESTART project focuses on overcoming barriers to achieving EU recycling targets and achieving full implementation of the National Waste Management Program and the Waste Prevention Programme.

    The main goal of the project is to introduce a comprehensive set of complementary technical, digital, environmental, social and circular solutions to unleash all the program's potential, achieve maximum material self-sufficiency and increased circular yield in the waste and resources sector.

    In order to achieve this main goal, the project activities will be aimed at achieving three specific goals:

    - to provide a continuous evaluation mechanism and ensure continuous improvement and actualization based on the digital, technical and social excellence established by the project;
    - to present 6 circular solutions for several problematic and extensive waste streams, as best examples for the implementation of the objectives;
    - to ensure wider acceptance of best available solutions and achieve consistent and integrated implementation of waste targets

    The project will contribute to the implementation of the EU Waste Framework Directive, the Blueprint for a resource-efficient Europe, the European Green Deal and the Circular Economy Action Plan for a cleaner and more competitive Europe.

    Project objectives

    - 20% reduction in CO2 emissions due to improved handling.
    - Increase in recycling by about 18% (2% per year).
    - Recycling 50% of non-hazardous construction waste.
    - Recycling 99% of non-hazardous waste from thermal processes.
    - Achieve a 70% municipal waste recycling rate.
    - Reduced consumption of non-metallic mineral raw materials by 20% (3.4 million tons).
    - Improvement of 10% of the floor area.
    - 15% increase in green jobs.
